In small groups research the commonalities and differences in foods available to each region to our native first people to native people in each reason. 
Compare the ways that the geographical regions influence the living conditions and living structures of native people. Do those regions still influence native American people? Write a summary of how relationships with land have been impacted by cultural experiences.

SUMMATIVE PERFORMANCE TASK: Supported Claim (written/spoken) or Demonstration of Process (project-based)Divide the classroom into 3 sections. Each group taking a geographical region and creating a poster board presenting the positive attributes versus challenges of living in that assigned region.

Write 3 paragraphs answering the following questions.
Would you survive?
Would you survive living off of the land in ND? Then? (Please pick a specific date) Now? How would moving to the different region affect the way you live today?
Taking Informed Action / Real World ApplicationDid the distinct difference in geographical regions across North Dakota influence traditions of food, living and shelter among Native American tribes? (Red River Valley, Drift Prairie and Missouri Plateau)
Using knowledge and resources learned from the lesson, the class will create a case study for each geographical region to be presented to parents during parent night.
Examples of questions to ponder for audience might include: What challenges might arise from living in a specific geographical region. Brainstorm at least three solutions to the case study.
