| Read the Book 13 Moons on Turtle’s Back. Students will journal about what they learned and how Native Americans used the 13 full moons in each year as a guide for their lives, traditions, and activities surrounding each month depending on where they lived. Students will work in pairs to discuss the meaning of the 13 moons and they will create a trifold display board with pictures of the moons along with detailed descriptions. | Students will work in pairs to research the Gregorian Calendar and its foundation. Students will create a calendar of their own. Students will compare the calendar to the one used by Native Americans. | Students will research different calendars used around the world and answer the supporting questions above.. Students will create a replica calendar of one of the calendars used by a different culture of the world. |
